Hiroshi Iuchi is former employee of Treasure, who was with the company from its foundation until 1995, and again from 1997 until 2008. An avid fan of shooting games, he is best remembered as the director of Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga.
Like several other founding members of Treasure, Iuchi began in the industry working in Konami's arcade division as a pixel artist. He worked principally as a background artist until his departure in 1995 to work at the newly opened Japanese branch of Time Warner Interactive. That studio closed after shipping Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru, and Treasure enticed him to return by allowing him to direct a game, their first arcade title, Radiant Silvergun.
For Ikaruga, a sequel to Radiant Silvergun, Iuchi not only directed and produced the game's background art, but composed the soundtrack as well. He directed Gradius V in parternship with Konami, his last shipped title at Treasure.
Following his time at Treasure, he joined G.rev, a studio known for arcade shooters, and who had partnered with Treasure on Ikaruga. During this time, he directed Kokuga, an overhead, multi-directional tank shooter for 3DS, and contributed background art to Strania, a game with influenced of Radiant Silvergun.
After this, Iuchi left to work for M2, a studio specializing in emulation and retro ports. He contributed to the Sega 3D Ages line on 3DS, and has been quietly working on a new shooter title, Ubusuna. The project has continued between scheduled projects as staff availability allows, and has no clear release window, but as of 2021 is in a playable alpha state from start to finish, although many elements remain incomplete.
